Hair Color Guide

Are you considering coloring your hair for the first time? There are some things that you need to know first. You can’t just pick up your favorite over-the-counter color and start applying it. It can result in permanent damages to your hair.

If you are looking to have your hair colored by some hairdresser, you should first explain him or better show him the picture of the colored hair you want to get. So that you can put in front of you several available options of coloring the hair.

You should know the basics of available options for hair coloring and opt for the most suitable one according to your hair’s health and type.

The available options for hair coloring are:

Semi-Permanent Colors:

They contain no ammonia and very small amount of peroxide. Semi-permanent colors can only darken the hair. Semi-permanent coloring is the least damaging process for coloring your hair. The color fades to a translucent stain as the time passes by. So, the roots need to be maintained to avoid a mismatched look.

Demi-Permanent Colors:

Like semi-permanent colors, demi-permanent colors also don’t contain any ammonia, but little amount of peroxide. This type produces very good results for covering gray. It cannot lighten hair, but darken it. After every 4 to 6 weeks this type of color tends to fade. For this reason they need to be handled up after the mentioned period of time.

Permanent Colors:

Permanent colors have small amount of both, ammonia and peroxide. They can make hair darker and even lighter to a few shades. They beautifully cover the gray color and last until the new hair is grown out.

Glossing /Glazzing:

Clear glossing/glazing is available to add shine to hair without altering the color. The shinning usually gives hair a different looking shade. Gloss or glaze needs to be reapplied every few weeks.
